1987 Charlottesville, VA's Daily Progressive carried the obituary notice of Mr. Norman Dodd
a Great American
January 30, 1987
The tribute read in part: Mr. Dodd’s earlier suspicions of a political and economic conspiracy were confirmed. During his research for this committee [the Reece Committee], the president of the Ford Foundation, H. Rowan Gaither, Jr. told him that some of the giant foundations, including Ford, were work-ing under directives from the White House to so alter life in America as to make possible a comfortable merger with the Soviet Union.
"The Reese Committee learned that the 'Rockefeller Foundation' and the 'Carnegie Endowment for International Peace' were, with tax exempt dollars, funding leftist propaganda operations aimed to changing America through the brain, not the battle field." With these words, Mr. Norman Dodd, director of research of the Reese Committee, defines very well what this documentary is all about. The Committee was put together by the American Congress in 1953 with the task of investigating the activities of foundations in the USA (led by the Rockefeller Foundation) and also related issues abroad (led by the Carnegie Endowment). What have the tax exempt foundations been up to all this time?
“We operate here under directives which emanate from the White House... The substance of the directives under which we operate is that we shall use our grant making power to alter life in the United States such that we can comfortably be merged with the Soviet Union.” ~ Rowan Gaither
