High-speed rail service in the USA is going nowhere because it doesn't make economic sense. What passenger rail lacks isn't money, it's riders. These high-speed rail proposals are big boondoggles and no one with a brain should be subsidizing high-speed rail for good reason: There's not a market for it. The Federal government has been subsidizing Amtrac for years - billions of $$ and to what end?
It makes no common sense to operate a high speed rail passenger train at 125-mph and yet having it make stops every 50-75 miles.
